Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park — Unsanctioned Gathering Turns Violent
On April 18 2026, an unauthorized gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Community Park in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood became the scene of a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots rang out as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were working to dispersing the crowd.
How It Unfolded
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County law enforcement received calls regarding people potentially carrying concealed firearms at the Arden-Arcade park. An additional caller advised of a possible physical altercation and individuals running from the park.
Law enforcement air support was deployed and surveyed the area from above but was unable to locate an active fight.
At the same time, multiple hundreds of people had collected at the park for what the sheriff's office identified as an unapproved assembly. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, activated emergency lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out via loudspeaker announcements.
As law enforcement was clearing the area, upwards of 20 gunshots were fired — sending hundreds of people running in every direction.
Those Injured
Four click here individuals — three men and one woman, all young adults in their 20s — were taken to Sacramento area hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded and assisted read more with triage at the location.
The Crime Scene
The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way side side of the park in the vicinity of the Home Depot store at the 2200 block. The Home Depot store was locked down for a period of Howe Park Sacramento gunfire time. Extra shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with projectile damage found in the wrought iron fence around the nearby Home Depot — pointing to a shooter firing south from read more Cottage Way toward the store. CSI units and detectives worked the scene overnight.
Suspects
Via scanner radio traffic, it was reported that a suspect vehicle — a Kia automobile — was intercepted in the Solano County area with four detainees. SCSO deputies were heading to Solano County to pick up the suspects and bring them back to Sacramento for questioning. Video analysis confirmed two separate shooters.
